Romancing the Master Bedroom – The Five-Star Bed

How do you feel when you enter a beautifully appointed hotel room after a long day of traveling?  Relaxed and eager to rest in the fabulous bed in front of you right?  Bring home the luxury of a five-star hotel by making the most of your bed.  First of all, buy a good or even great mattress.  Secondly, nearly all rooms look better with a bed with a headboard so buy a beautiful one or have one made.

Invest in a few sets of high-thread count sheet sets that are available today at bargain prices.  Dress your bed in colors, textures and patterns that appeal to you.  When in doubt, neutrals are calming, restful and elegant and you can layer many interesting textures on top of each other to create interest.  Have your comforters and shams custom-made for a beautifully coordinated look.  Add black-out draperies for a nice dark environment.

Use attractive nightstands that offer closed storage on each side of the bed.  A pair of matching lamps makes a room look balanced and elegant.  Be sure to have adequate storage either in dressers and chests or in a really organized master closet.  Quick hint:  the better your closet, the less furniture you need – that’s a great topic for a future article!  Select art that is meaningful to you and preferably display scenes with happy or romantic themes.  The master bedroom should be a retreat from the outside world, a safe and luxurious place for you to rest.  At Room Redo we can make your bedroom a dream!
